Portrait of New York State Artists Survey, 2022

The National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture (NADAC), funded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), is thrilled to release the 2022 Portrait of New York State Artists Survey. This rich dataset delivers a wealth of information about the creative practices, financial statuses, well-being, pandemic-related experiences, and attitudes towards policy and advocacy among artists across New York State. The data are now freely available for download and online analysis on the NADAC website.

The Portrait of New York State Artists survey, conducted by Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) in February 2022, was designed to gather in-depth perspectives from artists to better understand their needs, circumstances, and lived experiences. This initiative was instrumental in guiding advocacy work and evaluating the effect of CRNY programs on artists. With contributions from over 13,000 artists, the collected data shed light on New York's diverse and dynamic artistic community.

Learn more about this unique dataset on the study's homepage on the NADAC website.
