Just Released: Arts Research Quarterly, Issue 13

Arts Research Quarterly Issue 13

The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture are excited to share the thirteenth issue of Arts Research Quarterly!

This issue of ARQ features "Addressing inequity in arts education: the potential of a systems perspective," an article by Steven J. Holochwost, Dennie Palmer Wolf, and Eleanor D. Brown. In this article, authors provide recommendations for how researchers, practitioners, and policymakers can leverage the cultural traditions of racially or ethnically minoritized children, families, and communities to expand access to arts education.

Our second highlighted article is "Narrowing the Gap: Implications of Arts Business Training on Artist Labor Market Outcomes" by Christos Makridis and Jonathan Kuuskoski. This study analyzed data from major universities and the American Community Survey (ACS) to demonstrate the importance of integrating art entrepreneurship education with the sustainability of the arts sector.

Don’t miss other articles included in this issue that explore the therapeutic benefits of line dancing for individuals with multiple sclerosis, an innovative prison intervention model led by artists that fosters connections between incarcerated individuals and the local community, the relationship between creativity in children and autism-related traits like empathy and sensory sensitivities, the impact of music therapy and music listening on nursing home residents with dementia, and the role of functional connectivity in fostering creativity among dancers, among other intriguing subjects!

About NADAC: The National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture (NADAC) is a repository that facilitates research on arts and culture by acquiring data, particularly those funded by federal agencies and other organizations, and sharing those data with researchers, policymakers, people in the arts and culture field, and the general public. It is one of several topical archives hosted by ICPSR, the largest social science data archive in the world and part of the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. NADAC is funded by the NEA. Thanks to the support from the NEA, users can obtain data from NADAC completely free of charge.
