Can I update my data collection after I deposit it? What if I have multiple waves or collect additional data?
Yes, members of the research community who have previously deposited their data with ICPSR are encouraged to submit additions, updates, or changes to the data and/or documentation that would benefit future analysis. Examples of such enhancements include additional data waves, previously unavailable documentation and/or syntax files, and newly-discovered corrections and/or errata notes.
If your previous deposit has already been released, you can deposit data updates or additional data by submitting another deposit. The deposit form has a place where you would mark "yes" for the question, "Is this deposit related to an existing ICPSR data collection or series?" In the comment box provided at the end of the deposit form, enter the ICPSR study number of the data that were previously deposited and detail how each file in the new deposit differs from what was already released. If you have an update to data that have not yet been released, you can navigate to your previous deposit workspace and reopen that deposit to make changes and resubmit.
We highly encourage you to first contact ICPSR at ICPSR-help@umich.edu before submitting updated data and documentation files.
